Coltrane Update

Hey everyone,

I wanted to update you on what's going on with our son Coltrane.  Our last chemo session was really short.  It was awesome!  The session lasted three days and we escaped on the third day.  ;)  We had our favorite nurses tending to us as well.  We had visitors who made the stay that much more pleasant.  Our doctor showed up one day and gave us a gift card to Starbucks, which was a wonderful gift.  This session was a little different.  The chemo was red and is known to cause some problems with the heart later on in life.

We are home now and we are doing pretty well.  We are enjoying every minute here.  We are in between chemo sessions.  His blood counts are low so he's pretty clingy to Sonja and whiny too.  Poor little man.  We also have to give him a shot every day to boost his blood cell count.  This is very horrible.  Most of the time he is in great spirits.  He laughs a lot and loves to play.  It's encouraging to see him playing so hard.  We are having fun watching our two beautiful sons growing to love each other and bond in a special way (when they're not at each other's throats.  ;).  God is giving us a lot of glimpses of blue skies in the midst of the storm.

Coltrane has an appointment tomorrow to check his levels.  He might have to receive a blood transfusion which will take around four extra hours.

Please pray for our stress levels.  Pray for Coltrane to not be effected by the chemo negatively.  The chemo he is receiving is hard on the heart, kidneys, ears, and his ability to have children.  Please pray against these things.  Also, pray that he won't need any blood transfusions, surgeries, or radiation.  Pray for our attitudes, our humility, and our witness.  We need to focus on Jesus and not on the storm.  It's hard, but we believe He is our deliverer, our comforter, our healer, and our rock and hiding place.

Thanks so much for your prayers and support!

In Christ's Love,
Justin,
Sonja,
Jackson,
and Coltrane the Magnificent.
