Coltrane and Hospice

Dear friends,

We are enjoying our time at home with our family.  We really like when Coltrane is active, hungry, or wanting to play.  It's rare, but it's like a gem.  Family is in town and it is very theraputic for everyone.  We are still praying for a miracle.

Coltrane is now under hospice care and they come twice per week.  Their is some tumor growth around the stomach area.  He can feel his legs, but can't move them.  Sonja feels like she is carrying around a little rag doll which is very hard on her.  We are encouraged by everyone's generosity and helpfulness.  We don't know a time frame of his life (like anyone does anyway), but he has defied the three week notice.  This is good news.  He doesn't smile much and seems to be in a lot of pain at times.  We are working with hospice on this.  Over the last few days we have noticed a lot of decline as he is unable to sit up and has lost control of his bladder.  We are having a very difficult time and are pleading to God to save him.  We are so thankful for the meals that are brought to us all the time.

Please pray for:

Coltrane's complete healing
Our family adjusting to this new transition and possible future outcomes
Complete comfort of Coltrane without being too sedated
The nurses and doctors to have great insight and care for him
Our extended family dealing with Coltrane's decline
Jack's understanding and feeling secure and loved during this period
For me to catch up on school work to continue to get high grades
Us to make good decisions when/if the time comes to make them
Our journey of trust and faith in the God who truly loves us and cares for us more than we can imagine

We are so happy for my Professors and their continuous understanding of our situation
We are thankful for my brother and his family to spend an extra week and for us to see other family members from different states
We are thankful for the doctors checking up on us both in Tulsa and OKC
We are thankful for God's help.

Love,
Justin,
Sonja,
Jackson,
and Coltrane the Brave

P.S.  We will post a photo very soon!

  1. Still praying for all of you....for peace, for comfort, for relief of pain (both physical and emotional), for the healing that God desires in the manner that He desires. Mary and Bob Kauffman

  2. Hard to put into words what I want to say. But I've grown to love this little boy even though I don't know him personally. My daughter, Nancy and family know you all and love you. Praying for your every request, for you to experience seeing God's loving care over your son, for you to "see" those mercies that are new every morning, to keep in mind that God is hearing every prayer and answering with His perfect loving answer. His promises are true and His grace is sufficient which you are testifying to each time you post an update. You are all loved with an everlasting love~!!!

  5. I pray often for your family. I pray against your fear and against the enemy's ultimate goal, to terrorize you and make you disbelieve the Goodness, Greatness, and Love of our God. The God we trust is the same today as He was when with a word spoken he healed. (Lord speak the word for Coltrane we pray ) He is also Sovereign and even if he doesn't give us exactly what we plead for, He is still to be trusted and believed. He still has a plan and it cannot be wrong. When it makes no sense to us, He is God. When it hurts until we cannot breathe He is with us and He is still God. God we trust you, even when it's hard, even when we want to quit and surrender to hopeless grief. You are all we have and all we ultimately need in the valley of shadowy things. Please help this family and help Coltrane. Please send your Angels to minister to him and his precious family. Please ease any pain or suffering he experiences and give him more moments of laughter and love with his family. Please help Jackson. You know what you have planned for his life and I am praying for Him to have an amazing testimony of Your Power as he grows into a man after Your Own Heart. I pray that you will strengthen the hearts of Sonja, Justin, Sandra and Tracey and all the extended family. Send your Angels to mount guard and garrison around them all today and always and may Your Banner over them be Grace, Healing and Love.
